Common questions

Opening your template in Google Sheets

The template works in Google Sheets. Convert it once, then use the Sheets copy.

  1. Go to drive.google.com and sign in.
  2. Choose New, then File upload, and pick the .xlsx file you downloaded.
  3. When the upload finishes, right-click the file and choose Open with, then Google Sheets.
  4. Use File, then Save as Google Sheets if you want a native copy.

Notes:

  • Yellow cells are for your data. White cells calculate and are protected without a password.
  • In Sheets, protected ranges show a warning when you edit them. Choose Data, then Protected sheets and ranges, to see or change them.
  • If a result looks wrong in Sheets but right in Excel, email [email protected] with the sheet name and the cell. That is a refundable problem.

Keep the original .xlsx. Re-uploading it gives you a clean copy.

Unprotecting a sheet

Formula cells are protected so they are not overwritten by accident. The protection has no password.

Excel: open the sheet, choose Review, then Unprotect Sheet. No password prompt appears.

LibreOffice Calc: choose Tools, then Protect Sheet, and untick Protect this sheet. Leave the password empty.

Google Sheets: protection from the file is converted to protected ranges. Choose Data, then Protected sheets and ranges, pick the range and remove it.

After you unprotect a sheet you can edit any cell, so keep a copy of the original download. Changing a formula can make the example and the tested results no longer match, and the refund policy covers the file as delivered.

Sorting and filtering protected sheets

Sorting and filtering change cell positions, and Excel does not allow that on a protected sheet unless the sheet is unprotected first.

  1. Choose Review, then Unprotect Sheet. There is no password.
  2. Select the table, including its header row, then use Data, then Sort or Filter.
  3. Choose Review, then Protect Sheet again if you want the protection back.

Tips:

  • Sort only tables. Sorting a range that mixes inputs and formulas can break the results.
  • If the table has formula columns, sort the whole table, not a single column.
  • In LibreOffice use Tools, then Protect Sheet to switch protection off and on. In Google Sheets use Data, then Protected sheets and ranges.

If a sort gives a wrong total, undo it and email [email protected] with the sheet name.

Finding and re-downloading your files

Gumroad delivers your files. After purchase you get two workbooks: the blank template and a copy filled with fictional example data.

  • Receipt email. Gumroad sends it to the address you used to buy. It contains a download link.
  • Library. Sign in to Gumroad with that email and open your Library to download again at any time.
  • Updates. When we fix an error or update a fee or form, the new version appears in your Library at no cost. The file name shows the version, for example v1.1.

Problems:

  • No email: check spam, then search for Gumroad. Gumroad can resend the receipt.
  • The file will not open: make sure the download finished and the name ends in .xlsx. Try Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice 7 or newer.
  • Still stuck: email [email protected] with your order email. A file that does not open is covered by the refund policy.
Reporting a wrong result

If a number looks wrong, we want to know. Email [email protected] with:

  1. The template name and the version in the file name.
  2. The sheet and cell, for example Summary!C12.
  3. What you entered in the yellow cells, and the result you expected.
  4. The program you use: Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice, and its version.

What happens next:

  • We reproduce the case with your inputs.
  • If the template is wrong, you get a refund if you want one, and a corrected version appears in your Gumroad Library at no cost.
  • Each confirmed error becomes a permanent test, so the same error cannot return.

Not tax, legal or financial advice: a template follows the form and rules named on its page and shows the date checked. If a form or fee changed, tell us and we will update it.

Refunds

Refunds within 30 days of purchase if a formula gives a wrong result, the file does not open or work in Excel 2016 or newer, Microsoft 365, Google Sheets or LibreOffice 7+, or the template does not do what its page says. Email [email protected] with your order email and one sentence about what went wrong. Other requests are considered case by case.
